• About the UNC School of Social Work and its history
  UNC's School of Social Work was founded in 1920 as the School of Public Welfare, in response to a 1919 North Carolina state law which required every county to provide public welfare services and to employ a superintendent of public welfare.
• Historical highlights and timeline
  The timeline was developed by Susan White, marketing writer and academic editor for the School, with assistance from colleagues at the School and at UNC Libraries. Rich Stewart, graphic designer for the School, created the timeline’s format.
• 100 Years of Impact
  Posted January 17, 2022: "More than 100 years ago, North Carolina lawmakers faced perhaps one of the most important decisions of their time. Following the end of World War I, the U.S. economy was on the verge of expanding rapidly and, along with it, American wealth. But in the South, the narrative was a bit more complicated."
